Pay it Forward: Support our Troops

The Pay it Forward traveling blog contest continues.

This time, the winner from the last contest, Miss Charlotte, is hosting the latest incarnation over at her blog, Army Mom: New Jersey.

Last time we Paid it Forward, @GeekyJenn and I asked you to take a minute to realize how each thing you do – even the smallest thing – can impact another in a positive way.   I’ve seen it all over the blogosphere and have been both amazed and inspired and wanted to make sure you saw it too.

We asked you to think about the little things you do for others and how much they mean.  We asked you to reach deep down and do one of the hardest things there is to do: to give yourself a compliment.

I couldn’t have been happier with the response.

And Miss Charlotte, the winner, definitely needs complimenting.

Though her daughter is not currently deployed, Charlotte’s heart is forever with our soldiers oversea.  She thinks of them, sends them both encouragement and love and does whatever she can to support them.

This time, instead of complimenting each other and ourselves, we want to take a moment to thank those who protect our rights every single day.  We want to thank those people who protect our country.  We want to thank those who are first on the scene when a natural disaster occurs.  We want to thank the soldiers; they’re our children, our friends and our neighbors.

We want to take a moment to thank our troops.

Even if you don’t support the purpose, you can support those who have left their home to uphold its ideals.

At the end of the contest,  aside from the winner getting some swanky silver jewelry, I will collect all of the entries and have them bound.  With Charlotte’s help and an address overseas, I’ll send the words of encouragement along with some goodies the staff rallies together  (food munchies, dvds, candy, magazines, personal items, and other things from the soldier’s wishlists) to our troops overseas.

To enter and give kudos, visit Charlotte’s Blog.  What’s better than doing something that makes both you and someone else – maybe a complete stranger – feel good?  Especially when that person, possibly someone you’ve probably never met, is willing to leave their friends, family and home simply to protect your rights.  In the process, you might just win something shiny!
